![]() The Oscar® qualifying "Børge Ring Award" is named after the danish jazz-musician, film director and animation artist Børge Ring. Børge was the first Danish film director to win an Oscar, which he won in 1985 for his masterpiece "Anna & Bella".
British sculptor Joanna Mallin-Davies have created a beautiful sculpture based on artwork from the film. The award is given to a film which in Børge's spirit have elements of musicality and poetry and where the story is personal and well-told and where the use of animation makes it unique. Further it's given to a director who succeeds in creating a personal expression in both story and style. The Børge Ring Award is chosen between all animation films in the program at Odense International Film Festival. The prize can be awarded to animation films in all programs. With the award comes a cash prize worth DKK 15.000 (app. EUR 2,000) The Lejf Marcussen AwardThe Lejf Marcussen Award is named after the famous danish animation artist and film creator Lejf Marcussen (1936 - 2013).
Lejf was educated at The Danish Designschool and The Royal Academy of Arts, Copenhagen. Since 1985, retrospectives of his work have been held in a dozen countries, including France, Spain, Israel, England, Canada, the United States and Norway. In 1990, Marcussen won the Norman McLaren Heritage Award at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. Two years earlier, his film "The Public Voice" garnered awards at Annecy and six other festivals. A great explorer of different techniques, Marcussen makes films that borrow from musical structures rather than story structures. The Lejf Marcussen Award is chosen by a jury from a number of selected animation films shown at the annual VOID Intl' Animation Film Festival and is handed out at the closing ceremony of the festival. With the award comes a cash prize of EUR 1,000 The Talent Award (Talentprisen)![]() The Talent Award is given to new Danish talent in animation. VOID is an animation festival based in the beautiful capital city of Copenhagen, Denmark. During ten days at the end of January, VOID screens animation for adults and young adults - not for children. VOID is part of a growing community of animation lovers, producers and professionals, and we screen not only the best in animation that we can find world wide, but also that which dares to be different. We aim to push it, crush it and inspire the next generation of animated filmmakers to be not only tech savvy and into their craft, but also daring, exploring and personal. voidfilmfestival.com |
